Organosilicon Intermediates Containing Silicon Moieties

Apr 27, 2023

The intermediate can be obtained by hydrolysis reaction alone with RSiCb or with R-core iCl2 CR as the acceptor and aryl groups in the presence of organic solvents. The production of this type of silicon modified polyester generally involves synthesizing polyester prepolymers containing silyl groups first, and then adding organosilicon intermediates containing silyl groups to the polyester prepolymer. From the perspective of process control, polyester prepolymers can only be added to organic silicon intermediates after reaching a certain stage of reaction. Due to the easy self condensation of organic silicon intermediates containing silicon light groups, the reaction is difficult to control. In fact, there are not many cases where silicon modified polyester is prepared using this type of intermediate system.

The condensation reaction mechanism is as follows: an organic silicon intermediate containing silicon tibia group (Si OH) is added to the polyester prepolymer containing tibia group, and the light group in the polyester prepolymer is condensed and dehydrated under the conditions of using or not using a catalyst. During the reaction process, both co condensation reactions between organic silicon intermediates and the light groups of polyester occur, as well as self condensation reactions between intermediates. Therefore, polymerization reactions are difficult to control and can be regulated through catalysts. The best catalyst for promoting the co condensation of polyester and organosilicon intermediates is quinone acetate, such as tetraisopropyl quinate, tetraisobutyl quinate, etc.

The effect of polyols on the properties of polyester modified silicone resin. Polyester synthesized from different polyols such as trimethylpropanol, pentaerythritol, and ethylene glycol is modified into a film using an organic silicon intermediate, which has a certain impact on the adhesion, hardness, and flexibility of the substrate.

Polyester modified silicone resin with different polyols

CD synthesized modified organic silicone resin from trimethylpropanone as raw material. The polyester synthesis of trimethylpropanone 14 7g, 9.02g of isophthalic acid, and 3.97g of adipic acid were added to a 50ml four necked flask. Under nitrogen protection, the mixture was slowly stirred and heated at a rate of 60 ° C/h; Dehydration begins at approximately 180 ° C, and the heating rate is changed to 15 ° C/h. The temperature is raised to 200-210 ° C, and the vacuum dehydration condensation reaction is carried out at this temperature. Xylene can also be added at the same time to aid dehydration, until the acid value drops to 10-13mgKOH/g. Cool down to 150 ° C, add acetyl propylene glycol methyl alcohol, and adjust to 75% solid content of polyester resin.
